Dr. William Peter Freitag

style="text-align: justify;"> class="alignleft size-full wp-image-14861" title="" src="http://www.bolesfuneralhome.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Freitag-William-WEB.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="172" />Dr. William Peter Freitag, born on June 8, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. He was called to his Lord on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

style="text-align: justify;">He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Phoebe Zeuch Freitag and Peter William Freitag of Chicago.

style="text-align: justify;">Dr. Freitag has called North Carolina home since 1965 when he moved here to pursue a Doctorate in Education from Duke University. He joins his beloved wife of 53 years, LaVerne Vick “Vickey” Freitag who passed away in 2004.

style="text-align: justify;">He is survived by his daughter Donna Freitag Craven and her husband Dortch Langston Craven of Aberdeen, N.C., his son Kurt William Freitag and his wife Carolyn McCarthy Freitag, and their children William and Sara of Raleigh, N.C.  He is also survived by his dear friend of six years, Nancy Branson, of Greensboro, N.C.

style="text-align: justify;">Dr. Freitag was educated in the Chicago Public School System. He earned a B.A. from Northern Illinois University, and an M.A. from Roosevelt University and a Doctorate in Education from Duke University. Dr. Freitag taught and was an administrator in the Chicago Public School System, the former Raleigh City School System and retired in 1990 as Assistant Superintendent of Personnel for Wake County Public Schools. Dr. Freitag was a Mason for over 50 years, serving as Master of his Blue Lodge in 1964. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and a Shriner. While in Raleigh, Dr. Freitag was President of Raleigh Sertoma and President of Wake County Opportunity, Inc. An avid golfer, Dr. Freitag had the honor of serving as President of Raleigh Country Club and Whispering Pines Country Club. He was a member of the Duke Alumni Association and a devoted Duke Basketball fan.

style="text-align: justify;">Memorial services will be held 2PM, Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Chapel at Belle Meade in Southern Pines, N.C.  A reception will follow immediately after the service in the Henley Dining Room at Belle Meade.

style="text-align: justify;">In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care at PO Box5889 Pinehurst, NC 28374.
