Leila Storm Dodd passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center. She was 98.
A memorial service will be held at Belle Meade at a later date.
She was born in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., to Walton and Helen Battin Storm. She grew up in Dobbs Ferry, Hartford, Conn., and Norfolk, Conn., and graduated from the Gilbert School in Winsted, Conn., where she played tennis and softball and sang in the school choir.
She was a member of the Putnam Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Order of the Crown in America. A volunteer for many years at the Greenwich, Conn., Hospital and the Greenwich Garden Center, she was also one of the original drivers for Meals on Wheels.
She was an accomplished and prolific needlepoint stitcher, and she knitted hundreds of sweaters for Guideposts Knit for Kids World Vistas program.
Mrs. Dodd was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, James W. Dodd, USNR (Ret.), and vice president of NBC International; a son, Peter G. Dodd; and two brothers, Stephen Storm and T. Walton Storm. She is survived by her sons J. Gardiner Dodd and Robert W. Dodd; and her granddaughter, Catherine G. Dodd.
Interment will be at the First Congregational Church, Old Greenwich, Conn.
