Obituary for Susan Lee “Sukie” Oakes

Susan Lee “Sukie” Oakes, 78, of Pinehurst, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at her much-loved summer home on Round Island, town of Clayton.
A funeral service will be held at Hiawatha Lodge on Round Island Tuesday, July 31, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Andersen, vicar of the Church of St. Lawrence, Alexandria Bay, officiating. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service Inc., Clayton.
Sukie was born in Bradford, Pa., on May 13, 1934, daughter of Lowell and Susan Oakes (later Coleman). She graduated from Penn Hall High School, Chambersburg, Pa., and from Rochester Business Institute.
She had worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Dicker in Willowdale, Ontario. She was Episcopal, and enjoyed crafting and ceramics.
She is survived by three of her children, Cindy Vieira (Joe), Toronto, Ontario, Robin McAnallen, Oshawa, Ontario, Mitchell McAnallen (Anne), Phoenix, Ariz.; and was predeceased by her son, Orlo “Mac” McAnallen (2011); and her two sisters, Molly Johnson and Hannah Chambers. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Donna McAnallen; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sukie will also be fondly remembered and missed by many friends and especially her dear friend in Pinehurst, Flo Hollister.
