Mary Ford Cannon, 91, of Southern Pines, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at in the Chapel at Belle Meade.
Born in Chicago, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Cannon. Mary was a retired captain who served in the U.S. Navy Nurses Corps in Korea from 1952 to 1953, and Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. She retired from the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., in 1974.
She was a volunteer at Sandhills Hospice, St. Joseph Health Center, Meals on Wheels, and Sandhills Coalition.
