Robert Morse Simons, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at Quail Haven Village, in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Community Presbyterian Church, in Pinehurst, with the Rev. Rod Stone officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Simons was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps, and received the Silver Star Medal for Valor during his service. He was a member of the American Legion and was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean Watrous Simons; his sons, David Jon Simons and wife, Virginia, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Robert Bruce Simons and wife, Jane, of Newton Falls, Ohio, and William Paul Simons and wife, Leann, of Hudson, Ohio; his daughters, Donna Jean Belt and husband, Robert, of Afton, Okla., Susan Marie Walkama, of Sanford, Barbara Louise Moody and husband, Jim, of Houston, Texas, and Karen Diane Godwin and husband, Deryl, of Youngsville; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
