Florence Burgess Zschoche, 70, of Whispering Pines, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
At her request, there will be no local services. An inurnment will take place at Homewood Cemetery in Pittsburgh, where she will be laid to rest with her mother and her father.
Florence was born Oct. 26, 1942, in Pittsburgh, to the late John Amos Burgess and Edith May Ford Burgess. She was a graduate of Ellis School for Girls in Pittsburgh and earned a B.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill.
After a career as a researcher in the field of electron microscopy at Duke University Hospital and as a real estate broker, she moved to Whispering Pines in 1999 with her late husband, Leonard Keith, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Florence served on the village of Whispering Pines Village Council from 2001-2005. She was in numerous duplicate bridge clubs and enjoyed the game of golf at Country Club of Whispering Pines.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Zschoche, of Whispering Pines; and a stepson, Steven Keith and wife, Mina, of Chapel Hill.
