Greta Maness Harris, 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Penick Village, in Southern Pines.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Southern Pines. Family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Boles Funeral Home, in Pinehurst.
Greta was born Jan. 18, 1925, in Montgomery County, to the late Lena Suggs and Bailey Maness. She retired from Carolina Telephone after more than 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Harris Dean, of Pinehurst; granddaughters, Beverly Dean Carpenter (Thomas), of Pinehurst, and Wendy Dean Frye (Vincent), of Sanford; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Ian, Christopher, Griffin and Bennett; and sister Betty Smith, of Biscoe. She was predeceased by her husband, Beverly W. Harris Jr.; brothers Howard, Joe, Grier, Max, Roger and Theron Maness; and sisters Desma Parsons and Lorraine Parsons Gilmore.
