Virginia Tarlton Cameron, 87, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at The Inn at Quail Haven in Pinehurst. A private memorial service will be held at Bethesda Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Anson County, N.C., to the late Clara Howell and James W. Tarlton.
She is survived by her brother, John Tarlton and wife, Rosie; son, Pat Cameron and wife, Becky; daughters, Nancy Tate and husband, Larry, Nina Smith and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Jason Cameron, Lauren Tate, Timothy Cameron, Megan McCormack, Allison Smith, Megan Smith, Ginny Turlington and Cam Cameron; and great-granddaughter, Harper Tate.
She was well-known throughout the community as an active civic volunteer with the Southern Pines Does, Civic Club and VFW. She was a local Girl Scout leader for more than 10 years.
Virginia loved her family. She was an awesome mother and grandmother. She cherished her multitude of friends, was an amazing cook and had a zest for life. She will be greatly missed.
The family extends their deep gratitude for the loving care given by all at Quail Haven.
Memorials may be sent to the Foundation of FirstHealth’s Cancer Care Fund.
