Obituary for Janet B. Lilley

Janet Blue Lilley, 75, of Monroe, entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lilley were held at noon Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Stallings United Methodist Church, in Stallings, with Pastor Bart Milleson officiating. The family received visitors from 11 a.m. until noon. Burial was at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
Born May 23, 1937, in Moore County, Janet was the loving daughter of the late Pearl Evans and Calvin Blue. She was a native of Carthage, but lived most of her life in Kernersville. She attended East Carolina College, where she studied primary education.
On Sept. 7, 1957, she married the love of her life, Shelton Lilley. Together they had three wonderful and loving children. Janet worked for the Forsyth County School System for over 25 years, where she touched the lives of many children.
Janet was a loving servant to our Lord, serving for more than 35 years at Main Street United Methodist Church, Kernersville, and most recently at Stallings United Methodist Church in Union County. Being a lifetime servant and faithful member of the Church was a special memory Janet treasured. Most important to Janet was the time she had with her family.
In addition to her husband, Shelton E. Lilley Sr., surviving her, son Shelton E. Lilley Jr. (Shannon), daughters Julia Hatton (John) and Jan Fincher (Todd), sister Martha Pierce, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren are all left to cherish her memory.
