John Henry Weldy Sr., 67, of Pinebluff, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, peacefully at home, with family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Pinebluff United Methodist Church, in Pinebluff, with the Rev. Greg Minnick officiating.
Mr. Weldy was born April 16, 1945, in Waynesville, to the late George H. Weldy and Ethel (Briecsh) Weldy. He grew up in Haddonfield, N.J. After being drafted into the Army, he served in the Vietnam War. He then moved to North Carolina in 1985.
He was the owner and operator of Village Pest Control in Pinebluff for 20 years. He loved to go crabbing, fishing, walking on the beach, and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Weldy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Frances Weldy; two sons, John Weldy Jr., of Los Angeles, and Eric Weldy and wife, Meg, of Pinehurst; a sister, Gwen Hutchinson and husband, Bob, of Conover; three grandchildren, Orion Weldy, of Los Angeles, and Madelyn and Olivia Weldy, of Pinehurst.
