Margaret C. “Peggy” Jeanes, 83, of Southern Pines, died peacefully in her home Monday, Dec. 10, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Friday.
She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Cumberland County, to the late Hugh Mance Clayton and Mayola McDaniel Clayton.
Mrs. Jeanes was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Newbern Julian Jeanes. She is survived by her two children, Laura J. Pendleton and husband, Gary, of Raleigh; and son, Mark J. Jeanes, of Pinehurst. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Blair J. Pendleton, of Berkeley, Calif., and Gray E. Pendleton and wife, Caroline, of Raleigh.
Due to Julian’s business, Peggy and Julian moved numerous times throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi and Texas. With each move, Peggy would lovingly decorate yet another house and turn it into a warm, elegant home. Decorating was her passion, and she willingly gave her time and energy to anyone seeking her advice.
Peggy was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and easily made friends everywhere she went. Peggy was quick to compliment, uplift, encourage and offer hope to all who knew her. She was a very special mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed. Over the past several years she had suffered numerous health problems. Peggy is no longer in pain, as she is resting in peace with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local SPCA in recognition of Peggy’s love of animals, especially dogs.
