Betty J. Desjardins, 84, of Pinehurst, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at her residence.
Inurnment will be held by the family at Pinelawn Memorial Park at a future date.
Born in Chicago to the late Jesse and Elizabeth Fauth Bauer, she graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in Hammond, Ind. She married her husband, Robert, on Jan. 14, 1967, in Honolulu, and traveled extensively abroad with him during a 28-year military career. A staunch Republican, she held many state level positions in the Hawaii Republican Party. She and her husband moved to Pinehurst from Hawaii in December 1997.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Bauer. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert H. Desjardins; two daughters, Bonnie Desjardins, of Pinehurst, and June Desjardins; two grandchildren, Gabriel Gray and Shelly Woll; and three great-grandchildren, Alex Gray, Kayla Gray and Jasmine Brown.
