David H. Mounce, of Pinehurst, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, after an extended illness.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at his home on a date to be announced later.
Dave was born in Kula Maui, Hawaii. In accordance with his wishes, following cremation, his ashes will be scattered on Haleakala crater, on the island of Maui, where Dave and his brother hunted with their father as youngsters .
Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Char Mounce; three sons, Gary and his wife, Linda, of Los Angeles, Scott and his wife, Tina, of Castle Rock, Colo., and John and his wife, Kathy, of Sugar Land, Texas; three daughters, Lana Long and her husband, John, of Las Vegas; Cindy Bohrman and her husband, Bob, of Arlington Heights, Ill., Jana Schwartz, of Merrimac, Mass; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

American Cremation Services of Durham is serving the family.
